Last time, I wrote about easy ways to get testimonials for your website.
This time, I want to encourage you to up-your-game for getting Google reviews.
Many folks think they need to hire a company to solicit reviews.
That’s okay and better than nothing, but I don’t know about you, I sure don’t like being harangued for reviews by automatic requests sent ad nauseum.
I especially hate it after I’ve already left them a nice review.
A better and smarter way is for a sales staffer, who actually handled a transaction, to send a personal thank-you note to the customer, commenting on her wise selection, and then following it up with a polite request for a review, while including a handy link or QR code.
Please don’t skimp on the personalization. While it’s fine to have a template, be sure to add whatever you can to make it personal.
For example …
I so enjoyed working with you on decorating your son’s new room. He is going to have so much fun with his monster truck bed. It’s really fun to work with a creative customer. Let me know whenever you need help with other decorating projects. When you get a chance would you please leave a review for us on Google? (Insert Link Here.) It really helps our business and is much appreciated. Thanks again and let me know whenever you need help with other decorating projects.
Two benefits will be the result of doing the above: stronger customer relationships and more five-star reviews.
And you didn’t have to be annoying with the request.
Google makes it easy to get a link. Log into your Google Profile and click on the Ask for Reviews icon.
Once you click on that, a window will open up with a handy link you can copy and send to your customers with your note. They also give you a QR code, if you prefer those.
How easy is that?
By the way, I don’t recommend soliciting Yelp reviews simply because it’s against their rules.
