Last year was a tough year for most retail stores. As a service provider, it’s been tough for me, too. Many clients paused or stopped their work.
As I reflect on 2020, I think back to 2008 when we were in the Great Recession.
I learned a lot then from the clients who stuck with my services. I helped them and then watched as they outlasted their competitors.
They survived to sell another day.
Unknowingly they put into practice the Navy Seals motto: Adapt and Overcome.
Sometimes they adapted by closing other locations, working with leaner staffs, changing their inventory, or, thankfully for me, improving their websites.
Since March of 2020, with the endless lockdowns, we’ve all had to scramble.
I had one client who paused his work in the first lockdown, but then came back and had me do some mission critical work on his website. That work brought in enough new customers that he came back a few months later with even more work.
I don’t know what will happen in the future. We can only pray and do our best.
