Herman: The PPC Internet Expert. Don’t Rile Him!

As you navigate the Internet world, you need to assemble a phalanx of various Internet experts to assist you. The web has become so specialized that no one person, or agency, can do it all well.

When you do find a good Internet expert with a particular specialty, treat him or her well. My friend Herman Jooste has an interesting way of dealing with fickle clients.

Herman is an ace at executing Pay Per Click (PPC) campaigns. He was telling me about a client whom he had helped make a lot of money. The client was thrilled.

Then along came some other supposed PPC expert, who promised his client the sun, the moon, and the stars. So he told Herman he was leaving.

Herman said, “When you come back, I’m going to charge you a lot more.”

The client replied, “I’m not coming back.”

“When you lose money, you’ll come back!”

“No! I’m NEVER coming back!”

Sounds just like a couple of alpha males, eh? … (I have to admit, I sort of envy the ways guys can just go at it.)

Herman then revealed that, indeed, the client lost a ton of money with that other “expert” and has now returned to the fold.

Herman also said, “Now, I’m charging him ten times more!” Do you think he’s alpha-exaggerating?

The point of this tip is that, if the advice is working for you, treat all your Internet experts well. Please, don’t throw them overboard for the next sweet-talking expert.

There is a lot of good reliable help out there, but there are also a ton of fast-talkers!

Easy Web Tip #107: A good Internet expert is hard to find. Once you find one, hold on to him or her. And be careful before believing the guys who promise you the sun, the moon, and the stars.
