A Gravatar Adds Gravitas to Your Blog Comments

Last week I wrote about the importance of blog commenting on your trade industry blogs and articles.

Have you ever noticed that in the comments following a blog or article, that some people have their pictures next to the comment? Other comments just have a “ghost silhouette” to represent the commentator.

A picture of you will look so much better than a ghost. A picture immediately makes the reader think, “How cool is that? A dude in my industry knows how to get his picture in there and I’m clueless. He must know his way around the Internet. He knows his stuff. I’m going to read his comment.”

So how do you get one of those pictures next to your posts? For most of today’s blogs, all you have to do is go get a Gravatar. You simply go to gravatar.com. Then follow the simple instructions. It’s so easy. Be sure to have a nice headshot of yourself handy to upload.

From then on, you’ll be posting comments and looking cool.

P.S. I learned about this from the blog of my friend Michael Katz of Blue Penguin Development. You can view his video How to Use a Gravatar.

EASY WEB TIP #135: When you post a comment on a blog or article, be sure to post your picture, too. Just go get a Gravatar!
